Confused Right?
Stuck with the thought of choosing the right stream? This is possibly the story of every Indian student. I remember when I was studying in kindergarten, I used to wish to become an artist. In this modern era, you have many options in front of you. It was not before I entered my secondary education that my interests started changing. They were now more economical and different. Once I started communicating with those at the edge of career selection, I came out of my illusions. It is indeed not easy! My peers are on the same track. It is rare to find a person who is actually working on his or her choices.
The more we are provided with comfort, the higher our expectations. The surroundings are never balanced. There is always something that keeps pulling us. Gone are the days when scoring above the 80s was recognized as a distinction. These days, we students compete for even a single point. Parents expect their kids to become the ones that are considered to be regal. We have been provided with all the choices but not with all. Sounds crazy right? technically this is how we are cultivating our future and the generation. Career selection is no more liberal. We have to choose what comes under our so-called literacy and numeracy abilities. In fact, still, it is difficult to find an educational institution that actually gives equal importance to non-academic subjects, but this isn't the condition of the economic globe. Nonacademic subjects such as fine arts and sports have an equal scope of opportunity to earn money and respect. Students often compromise in the stream selection due to their aptitude mismatch and socioeconomic pressure from family and peers. Yes, peer pressure plays a crucial role here. Students often select the wrong streams because of peer pressure not realizing their capabilities and hidden talent.
Today each and every student wants to be successful and stand out from the crowd but that does not mean forcing yourself into a situation that you cannot tackle. Everyone has their own qualities and better sides but those could be utilized only if you actually listen to yourself. Adapting to the environment and adjusting to the demands of people is a good quality. However, pleasing others and sacrificing your development isn't a wise act.
The development of a person not only depends on that piece of paper of our qualifications or a good and healthy family but also, on the happiness of the person. This happiness can be brought through the right choices and for that, we have to identify our interests. Being a student, I accept that saying these words are easy but actually captivating these in our lives is another Herculean task. Your situation can be different and indeed, I believe to find a reader with a different perspective. Hence, I would like to know about your situation and advice. This will let me, and society explore more.
